Poland Work Permit Process 2025 – Everything You Need to Know

Poland is one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe, with an annual economic growth rate of around 4%. The country has become a major industrial and production hub—especially in sectors such as agriculture, metallurgy, electronics, and the automobile industry. Because of this rapid growth, there's a consistently high demand for skilled and unskilled manpower across various industries, including factory work, warehouse operations, and IT services.

As a result, Poland is becoming a top destination for international job seekers, particularly those looking to build a better future in Europe. However, the Polish government has updated its immigration rules for 2025, aiming to make the process more transparent, safer, and faster—while protecting both workers and employers from global scams and fraudulent agents.

 New Immigration System in 2025

From 2025 onwards, the entire work permit process is online and must be completed through Poland’s official government website: www.praca.gov.pl. Only registered Polish employers can submit applications, and it is now mandatory to have a signed employment contract before applying for a work permit.

?? Employers who fail to comply with these rules could face penalties of up to 40,000 PLN.

Whether you are an EU or non-EU citizen, you can legally apply for a work permit if your Polish employer meets the required criteria and documentation.

Types of Work Permits in Poland

Poland offers several types of work permits based on job roles and the nature of employment:

  • Type A: For foreign nationals employed by a Polish company on a standard contract.

  • Type B: For board members who reside in Poland for over 6 months in a 12-month period.

  • Types C–E: For workers sent to Poland by a foreign employer (delegated workers).

  • Seasonal Permit: For short-term work in industries such as agriculture, hospitality, and tourism.

  • Short-Term & Special Permits: Introduced in 2025, these are designed for IT professionals, startup founders, and healthcare workers.

 Work Permit Processing Time

If the application is submitted online through the official portal, the work permit typically gets approved within 3–4 weeks.
However, if processed manually through the local Voivodeship (Urzad) office, it could take up to 3 months or more to receive a work permit valid for up to 3 years.

After approval, you must sign the employment contract and officially start work. If the employee fails to begin work, the employer is required to notify the Provincial Office.

Salary & Working Hours in 2025

As per Polish law in 2025:

  • The minimum monthly gross salary for foreign workers must be at least 4,660 PLN

  • You must work a minimum of 20 hours per week, depending on your contract

Many employers also offer additional benefits such as accommodation, transportation, insurance, and tax handling through payroll. These added services make the transition to working in Poland smoother for foreign workers.

 Who Needs a Work Permit?

If you are a citizen of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, or any other non-EU country, you must secure a valid Polish work permit before beginning employment.

The good news is, the new process—though strict—is much more efficient and secure for genuine applicants.
