Algerian applicants continue to favor France, submitting 64.7% of their Schengen visa applications (352,295) to French consulates in 2024, up from 58.86% in 2023. Conversely, applications for Spanish visas by Algerians declined from 26.9% to 22.77%. Notably, Algerians are diversifying their applications by applying more frequently to other Schengen countries beyond France and Spain.
Morocco and Algeria: Leading African Countries in Schengen Visa Applications
Morocco and Algeria are among the largest African nationalities applying for Schengen visas, trailing only behind Chinese nationals globally. In 2024, Algerians accounted for 11.47% of all Schengen visa applications submitted to France, while Moroccans represented 9.18%.
